1. Overview
The MAM Media Library (the "Platform") is a media asset management and playback service provided by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) for teaching and learning. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information the Platform collects, how it is used and protected, and the rights you have.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, display name, university email, user ID and roles (synchronised from the university's single sign-on or Learning Mall Core integration; the Platform never stores your SSO password).
- Content data: media files you upload (video, audio, documents, images) and their metadata such as titles, descriptions, tags and subtitles.
- Usage data: video watch progress and statistics, in-course playback records (for teaching analytics), and share-link access counts.
- Operation logs: records of key actions such as deletion and restoration (actor, time, IP address) for security auditing and dispute tracing.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide media storage, transcoding, playback and course integration services;
- To provide course teachers with viewing statistics scoped to their own courses only;
- To keep the Platform secure, troubleshoot issues and audit key operations;
- We never sell your personal information or use it for commercial marketing.
4. Storage and Protection
Data is stored on university-managed servers and cloud infrastructure, protected by access control, role-based permissions and encrypted transport. Operation logs are retained for a limited period and then automatically purged. Only authorised administrators can access back-office data.
5. Sharing
The Platform integrates with the university's Learning Mall Core (Moodle) platform via standard protocols such as LTI, exchanging only the course and user identifiers required for teaching scenarios. We do not disclose your personal information to third parties except as required by law or university administration.
6. Your Rights
You can review your basic account information on the Profile page. Basic information (name, display name, email) is managed centrally by the university. To request corrections or raise any privacy concern, contact learningmall@xjtlu.edu.cn.
7. Updates
This policy may be updated as the service evolves. Updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
